What’s this about?
Sydney is home to one of the fastest-growing populations in Australia. By 2045, it will be home to more than 6.5 million people.
The Sydney Plan covers 33 local government areas and proposes a plan for housing, infrastructure, jobs, sustainability and vibrant communities. The Plan aims to rebalance growth in locations with high accessibility to jobs and services.
The aim of the plan is to make Sydney a great place to live, work, and enjoy now and into the future.
Key focus areas include:
- jobs to support economic and population growth, supported by a strong, connected network of centres
- a more liveable and vibrant Sydney to enhance quality of life, creating places where people genuinely want to live
- securing productive industrial lands to support their critical role in driving economic growth
- promoting resilient and sustainable land-use planning to enhance environmental outcomes and manage natural hazard risk.
Whether you're a resident, a council, or an industry stakeholder, this is your opportunity to help shape how Sydney grows and evolves over the next 20 years.
