Frequently asked questions
We are upgrading Blayney’s health facilities to provide modern, high-quality care that meets the community’s growing needs.
The new MPS will offer:
- a welcoming space with one central entrance for all services
- all single rooms in residential aged care
- expanded inpatient and treatment areas
- landscaped courtyards and gardens for everyone to enjoy
- a new parking area
- modern workspaces to attract and retain skilled health care staff
- a well-designed facility that enhances Blayney as a place to live, work and visit.
The existing site was selected because it is close to other medical and aged care services, including HealthOne.
Health Infrastructure and Western NSW Local Health District also considered:
- proximity to the town centre
- site access and size
- local geography and flood risks
- other planning factors.
Aged care residents, patients, carers, and staff told us that staying close to town is important, especially for aged care residents who want to maintain their independence.
Since the new MPS will be built on the same site, the existing building will be demolished in stages.
Health services will continue, but there may be some short-term changes and disruptions. Keeping staff, patients, and visitors safe is our priority, and we will keep you updated throughout the process.
Yes. Sustainability is about more than energy efficiency and waste reduction. It also includes social and economic factors that affect our lives.
Sustainability is built into our design to create a facility that is economical, resilient, and adaptable for the future.
Community engagement and culture
The project team is exploring how art can create welcoming spaces for residents, patients, carers, staff, and the community. Developing an Arts in Health strategy is the first step in a long-term plan to include arts in the new facility.
Artistic spaces can also improve wayfinding and help indoor and outdoor areas support health services.
The Arts Working Group (AWG) is helping to include art and heritage elements in the redevelopment to support health and wellbeing.
