The Campbelltown Hospital Redevelopment – Stage 2 delivers expanded key clinical and support services, integrated and expanded mental health services and enhanced paediatric services for the Macarthur region.
The project follows on from the $134 million Campbelltown Hospital Redevelopment – Stage 1, which was completed in January 2016.
The NSW Government invested $632 million in Campbelltown Hospital – Stage 2.
Campbelltown Hospital is now a major hub for mental healthcare in the Macarthur and wider South Western Sydney region.

Campbelltown Hospital celebrated a significant milestone with Health Minister Ryan Park officially opening the new northern entrance, marking the completion of the $632 million redevelopment.

Redevelopment wins European Healthcare Design Awards
Campbelltown Hospital Stage 2 Redevelopment project team won the ‘Mental Health Design’ and ‘Interior Design and Arts’ awards at the 2023 European Healthcare Design awards.

Scope
The project includes:
- a new clinical services building with modern wards and patient facilities
- new women’s health services including birthing suites and maternity ward
- increased children’s surgical, outpatient and ambulatory care services
- new nuclear medicine and dental services
- state-of-the-art operating theatres and Intensive Care Unit
- an expanded Emergency Department with more treatment spaces
- modern mental health units that are centrally located
- increased access to outpatient and ambulatory care services
- upgraded medical imaging equipment
- increased cancer services.

The Campbelltown Hospital Stage 2 Redevelopment is one of the first facilities of its type in Australia.
The award-winning design unites mental health services with mainstream health service provision and includes:
- six-storeys of mental health services that support models of trauma-informed mental health care.
- thoughtful integration of arts to enhance the healthcare buildings.
- uplifting and comforting environments for patients, visitors, staff and the community.
The project won the Mental Health Design and Interior Design and Arts awards at the 2023 European Healthcare Design awards.
The Campbelltown Hospital Redevelopment is recognised as an example of how interior design and the arts can enhance healthcare settings.
