Work on the surgical services building commenced in early 2010.
The first stage commenced operation in December 2010 and the remaining work was completed in mid 2011. The major expansion and refurbishment of the Emergency Department began early in 2010. The first stage commenced operation in November 2010 and the remaining work was completed by mid 2011. Some car park alteration works were also completed as part of this project.
The $19.7 million project comprised $18 million from federal funding, and $0.5 million from the NSW Government. A further $1.2 million interest on federal funds, was also contributed by the NSW Government.

Scope
Surgical services expansion from 572 to 1888 square metres, provided:
- third operating theatre
- expanded recovery
- central sterilising services department (CSSD)
- new pre-admission clinic
- day surgery unit.
The Emergency Department expansion from 512 to 998 square metres, provided:
- 4 space ambulance bay
- additional treatment bays
- new resuscitation unit
- waiting room
- reception
- triage
- tutorial room
- senior staff offices and store-room
- extra consulting rooms
- mental health and isolation rooms
- plaster room.
