Port Macquarie Mental Health Unit

The NSW Government committed $15.9 million to expand the mental health facilities at the Port Macquarie Base Hospital. An additional $1.6 million was allocated to the project at the construction tender award stage.

Project information

The new Port Macquarie Mental Health Unit doubled the number of mental health beds and enhanced the care provided to all patients including improving the capacity to provide care to the elderly and younger persons. 

This project was delivered in partnership with Health Infrastructure and the Mid North Coast Local Health District.

Scope

The project delivered: 

• flexible patient care zones
• staff stations
• secure patient rooms with natural light
• quiet spaces
• multifunctional activity room
• dining and lounge areas
• secure landscaped courtyards
• wellness and recovery room
• courtyard
• interview (admission room).
