About the building sustainability index (BASIX)
The NSW Government is committed to conserving our water resources and reducing the impact of emissions on our climate.
We’ve introduced the building sustainability index (BASIX), to create strong sustainable planning measures to make all residential dwelling types in NSW energy and water efficient.
To make sure all new homes use less water and energy, you need to include a BASIX Certificate with a new house, dual occupancy or multi-unit residential development proposal across NSW.
