As part of an agreement with Australian-owned charge point operator JOLT, a fast EV charger has been switched on at Cronulla train station’s commuter car park, in addition to the charger installed at Penrith last month. A charger at Oatley Station is to be delivered in the coming weeks.
The new fast chargers are located near the entrances of the southern commuter car parks at Cronulla and Oatley train stations adjacent to Cronulla Street and Oatley Parade.
JOLT offers drivers free 7kWh top-ups for electric vehicles, or up to approximately 45km worth of fast charging every day, which takes about 17 minutes, depending on your car.
The chargers use certified GreenPower, meaning they deliver energy directly or through offsets from renewable sources, and will be a convenient way for drivers to top their charge up for free.
Once users have reached 7kWh, a cost of $0.46 will apply for each subsequent kWh. An idle fee of $1.00 per minute will apply for vehicles still plugged in and occupying the space but no longer charging.
Dozens more fast chargers will be rolled out as part of this agreement over the next year at commuter car parks and other locations convenient to commuters.
The NSW Government has invested $250,000 into the JOLT charger partnership, in addition to $209 million worth of EV infrastructure funding delivered as part of the NSW Government EV strategy.

Transport Minister Jo Haylen said:
“By placing these fast EV chargers at convenient locations in commuter car parks, we are hoping to encourage more people into electric vehicles while still promoting the use of public transport."
Dr Sarah Kaine MLC said:
“The community in southern Sydney is already rapidly adopting electric vehicles. There are around 1540 currently registered in the Sutherland Shire, an increase of more than 160 per cent in the last year, while registrations in Georges River Council area are up by nearly 170 per cent to 930.
“It is great that our communities are among the first to benefit from these new chargers, and that they’re adopting new EV technology which is reducing emissions, helping to improve air quality and reduce costs for drivers.”
JOLT CEO Doug McNamee said:
“The roll-out of TfNSW chargers represents a fantastic expansion of our growing Sydney network. These state-of-the art, free for 7kWh, fast-charging stations introduce a game-changing solution for EV users, resulting in significant cost savings, and allowing them to travel more freely.
“By using JOLT’s free charging top-ups, EV drivers could save more than $1000 per year on their charging expenses, making EV ownership even more attractive to people looking for convenient, sustainable, and cost-effective transport choices.
"We’re really encouraging Australians to embrace EV technology, particularly as cost-of living pressures continue to rise.”
