Commonwealth spectrum review
The Commonwealth Government is undertaking a review of the spectrum management arrangements under the Radiocommunications Act 1992.
The Commonwealth is assessing new ways to regulate and manage spectrum that allow flexibility and certainty for licensees.
The Telco Authority has been authorised by the NSW Government to be the primary point of contact between NSW and the Commonwealth on spectrum related matters. In this role, the Telco Authority is continuing to actively engage with the Commonwealth about the Spectrum Review.
The Minister for Communications has now issued the final report from the review. The Commonwealth is currently considering its response to the report which it will issue at a later date.
In the meantime, the Telco Authority has established the Spectrum Management Office as a one-stop-shop to provide assistance to agencies in regard to spectrum licensing, compliance with Australian Communications and Media Authority milestones for licenses in the 400 MHz band, and overall spectrum management for the NSW Government sector.
