NSW Regional Connectivity Challenges Symposium
The symposium brought together emergency response experts to address connectivity and disaster response needs in the Northern Rivers of NSW.
NSW Telco Authority attended the two-day Regional Connectivity Challenges Symposium, which was co-hosted by the Connectivity Innovation Network (CIN) and the NSW Smart Sensing Network at the Lismore campus of Southern Cross University.
Facilitated by CIN Director Dr Ian Oppermann and Southern Cross University’s Professor Mary Spongberg, the Symposium brought together emergency response experts, local representatives, and other industry stakeholders to address pressing connectivity issues and identify the connectivity and disaster response needs of the region.
A key theme of the discussions was how to prepare for a more connected and resilient future in regional NSW.
Speakers and attendees discussed a range of issues focused on regional communities. This included amplifying local voices and addressing regional challenges, empowering first responders with cutting-edge technology, crafting post-disaster recovery strategies, showcasing innovations for regional connectivity challenges and more.
Local representatives and speakers provided perspectives on the challenges faced by regional communities and shared their invaluable insights and expertise. Jim Henry, Head of Operations and Emergency Management at NSW Telco Authority was one such speaker.
