Revamped Open Data portal open to the public
www.data.nsw.gov.au is a web portal that gives the public access to data from various NSW government agencies, including NSW Bureau of Health and NSW Bureau of Transport. The site is also responsive, making it making it easy to view on mobile devices.
The new site offers information about popular and recently added datasets, case studies, news stories and examples of how datasets have been successfully turned into apps, as well as updates from social media feeds.
NSW Minister for Finance and Services Dominic Perrottet said more people than ever are using open data to create digital applications that improve the lives of people across NSW.
“Open data has been embraced by tech gurus and developers alike and we are now seeing data from agencies like Transport for NSW receive up to 40 million requests per month”, said Mr Perrottet.
Mr Perrottet said the government is committed to making government data more readily available and identified open data as a key driver for the NSW digital economy.
“I am really excited to see how people and the industry will make use of government data.”
