Guidance on the revised Capability Framework
Summary of changes to the Capability Framework and resources for agencies to assist with internal implementation of the revised framework.
The Capability Framework has undergone a comprehensive review to ensure it stays fit for purpose and keeps pace with the technological, societal, and organisational changes shaping how we work. The review focused on strengthening:
- Digital and data literacy – to more clearly embed the digital and data capabilities needed across the sector
- Customer service – to better reflect how government delivers services to the community
- Diversity and inclusion, including the incorporation of cultural capability, to reinforce our commitment to an inclusive public sector
We also enhanced several areas, including leadership, change management, ethical behaviour, strategic workforce planning, and psychological safety.
The resources on this page outline these updates in detail, explaining why the changes were made, the benefits they deliver, and what they mean for applying the Capability Framework in practice.
