Quick facts
Racing makes a significant contribution to the NSW economy.
The NSW Government commissioned a study into the size and scope of the racing industry in NSW in 2014. The study found:
- racing is a $3.3 billion industry in NSW
- over 90,000 people directly participate in the racing industry as employees, participants or volunteers
- approximately 1.8 million people attend race meetings annually
- economic activity generated by the racing industry sustains more than 27,550 full time equivalent positions across NSW.

Our Minister
The Minister for Lands and Water and Minister for Hospitality and Racing, Kevin Anderson, is responsible for the legislation that governs the conduct of thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing in NSW.
