The Department of Regional NSW has a range of inclusive employment initiatives in place to create a workplace which encourages the recruitment of people with disabilities and creates a culture where everyone thrives.
Enabling accessibility for all is a priority to the Department of Regional NSW. The organisation has re-designed its recruitment and HR processes to ensure its job application and onboarding processes are supportive and straightforward. Adjustments can be made throughout the recruitment process to meet the needs of candidates. Recruiters and hiring managers are trained in disability awareness to ensure the department supports people with a disability in their career.
Workplace adjustments to help staff perform at their best will be organised by hiring managers. Adjustments may include physical work environment modifications, alternative communication methods, specialised training, flexible work arrangements, role modifications and the provision of equipment.
Disability Employee Network
The Department of Regional NSW’s Disability Employee Network meets regularly to discuss ideas and develop strategies about disability-related initiatives. This proactive forum supports positive change within the department, offers professional and personal development, and gives members the opportunity to make the organisation more diverse and inclusive.
The Department of Regional NSW’s ‘Where, When and How We Work’ program provides a framework and resources for leaders and employees to discuss and implement flexible working practices which work for the business, team and individual.
