Cowra Hospital Redevelopment local trades getting involved
From the front reception desk to the cabinetry in staff areas, local business Jeffs Joinery & Building Centre has played a hands-on role in shaping the new Cowra Hospital.
Family Co-Owner Troy Jeffs first became involved in the project in late 2023 when he attended the local trades drop information session hosted by the Cowra Hospital Redevelopment project team and Richard Crookes Constructions. This led to supplying and building cabinetry for key areas including reception spaces, kitchens, cleaners’ rooms and more.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s at the front of the house or the back of the house – someone in town will know you built it,” Troy said. “We’ve told our team to remember this is their town and their work will be here for years to come.”
Jeffs Joinery & Building Centre contribution goes beyond cabinetry. The business has supplied acoustic panelling, sinks, general hardware, and even the timber for the hospital’s main staircase. “We’ve also been able to help out other subcontractors, supplying materials, tools, and even delivering sheets and hardware when needed,” Troy explained.
The project has provided a welcome boost for the business, as well as opportunities to collaborate with other local trades. “These are jobs we wouldn’t have without the hospital redevelopment, so we’ve done what we can to support the project,” Troy said.
Troy praised the team from Richard Crookes Constructions for their collaborative approach, noting they’ve been open to suggestions and keen to work in ways that benefit everyone involved.
The Cowra Hospital Redevelopment is not only delivering modern health facilities but also investing in local businesses and trades – leaving a legacy of craftsmanship that will be seen and appreciated by the community for decades to come.
