Disability Inclusion Action Plan
An Easy Read guide about Transport for NSW's Disability Inclusion Action Plan.
How to use this guide

Transport for New South Wales wrote this guide.
When you read the word ‘we’ it means the NSW Government.

We wrote this guide in an easy to read way.
We use pictures to explain some ideas.

We wrote some important words in bold. This means the letters are thicker and darker.
We explain what these bold words mean.

This is an Easy Read summary of our Disability Inclusion Action Plan.
This means it only includes the most important ideas.

Transport is important to everyone

Transport helps us do important things like

• go to work or school

• visit friends and family

• go to the doctor.

We want everyone to move around in a safe way.

We want to make sure people with disability can use transport just like everyone else.

We want people to be able to choose how and when they travel.

We want to make all public transport accessible in New South Wales.
Accessible means easy for everyone to use.

We also want to make roads and other ways of getting around accessible.

We want our workplaces to be easy for everyone to use.
We want them to be a place where everyone feels welcome.
How we created this plan

We talked to many people with disability, carers, and disability groups in NSW.

We also read independent reviews.
Independent reviews are checks done by people who are not part of the government. They make sure things are fair.

We used what we learnt to create the Disability Inclusion Action Plan that goes from 2026 to 2030.
What people told us

People with disability told us that some places, information, and services can be hard to use or understand.

It can be hard to get concession fares.
Concession means a cheaper ticket price for people who need extra support.

There are not enough accessible spaces or services like wheelchair accessible taxis or mobility scooters.

People with disability said our workplaces have got better, but we could do more.
What we will do

We will work hard over the next 4 years to make our public transport system more accessible.

We will do things like improving our train stations, bus stops and ferry wharves.

We will train our workers to be more aware of disability so they can help people with disability better.

We will make our information easy to understand and explain our services clearly.

We will design places together with people with disability.

We will be a good employer by

- making people with disability feel welcome

- treating them fairly

- giving chances to learn and do new things.
How these changes will help

The actions in this plan will help us do 6 important things.

- Help make it easy for people to get where they need to go.

- Make it easy for everyone to access and use our trains, roads, buses and ferries.

- Make it simple for everyone to plan their travel.

- Make sure everyone feels safe using transport.

- Use technology to improve access to transport.

- Make Transport workplaces accessible so everyone feels included.
