When to take the test
The HSC minimum standard tests are for students to show that they meet the minimum literacy and numeracy standards to receive their Higher School Certificate (HSC).
If you have not completed the minimum standard before finishing Year 12, you can still sit the tests after you have left school. However, you must have completed all of the other HSC requirements before you can apply to sit the tests.
Minimum standard tests can be taken from Year 10, and up to 5 years after starting your first HSC course.
There is no cost to sit the tests.
