The Broken Hill Rehabilitation project was funded by COAG under the Sub-Acute Beds Program, with a project cost of $6.6 million.
Project information
The facility caters for a broad spectrum of patient types including those afflicted by stroke, brain dysfunction, neurological conditions, limb amputation, arthritis, orthopaedic condition, cardiac conditions, pulmonary conditions, other impairments and conditions affecting function and independence.
Construction commenced in November 2011 and was completed in March 2013.
Benefits
- The building design reflects a model of care that encourages responsibility, independence and trust between staff and patients, providing a platform that nurtures the patients in the transition from acute care back into the community.
Scope
The project delivered:
- 10 separate bedrooms with en suites
- 2 bedrooms providing bariatric patient capability
- living and dining room
- gymnasium
- consulting and meeting rooms
- kitchen and laundry facilities
- outdoor spaces and gardens.
