Northern Tablelands Local Land Services is encouraging livestock producers to maintain a strong disease prevention regime this winter through supplementary feed and vaccination, as the cold weather, feed gap and fresh green pick create a perfect storm for disease.

The Minns Labor Government is seeking community feedback on proposed reforms to the state’s veterinary framework designed to modernise veterinary services and better support the people who care for our animals and the communities that rely on them.

The adoption of sheep and goat electronic identification (eID) technology this year has presented local sheep producers with a timely opportunity to identify the best performing animals within their flock, as drought conditions across the Northern Tablelands force producers to make tough decisions. 

North West Local Land Services is reminding livestock producers to closely monitor stock health following recent rainfall events that may result in the emergence of patchy green pick across parts of the region.

With much of NSW drought affected, Local Land Services is reminding livestock producers who have limited feed availability that confinement feeding may be a worthwhile management option for them.
