Overview of this event
This free two hour workshop at The Woopi Bee Shed covers the basics of keeping European Honeybees. Presented by local beekeeper, Glenn Locke of Mt Coramba Apiculture, this workshop is suitable for anyone curious about getting into beekeeping, or those who have already have bees and want learn more.
This session will have a particular focus on setting up a hive, hive health and maintainance, essential equipment and gear, the annual beekeeping cycle, pests and diseases and most importantly living with varroa
A light afternoon tea will be provided along with an opportunity to taste a variety of local honeys.
Warning - While there won't be opening a hive during this session, bees are kept at this premises. If you are allergic to bees please let them know and bring any medication you may require.
