Principle 6: Deliver key actions and commitments to timeline
Action 1: Report regularly against progress on the Charter and action plan
The Charter represents a new partnership between the NSW Government and the state’s small businesses. Keeping our promises is critical to maintain trust with small businesses. Regular reporting on government activities with small business also helps identify opportunities for further collaboration between Government Agencies or with the sector.
The first year of the Charter’s implementation has focused on establishing the Bureau as the front door to Government for small businesses, expanding support for small businesses who are interested in selling to customers overseas, guiding businesses through procurement processes, delivering specialist business advice and establishing a common conversation across government about small business. The Government has also delivered financial support to help ease the cost of doing business, enhanced faster payments for businesses selling to government, and introduced significant reforms to government procurement to provide more transparency, ease and opportunities for small businesses.
In continuing to deliver the Charter, we will build on these achievements. Government Agencies will be taking further action on ensuring greater and more consistent engagement with small businesses, listening and acting on red tape and other pain points.
We will continue to report annually on our delivery of the Charter and implementation of key actions to support small businesses.
