Treasury Policy and Guidelines (TPG)
This Policy provides practical guidance for distinguishing between expenditure that is part of the cost of property, plant and equipment in accordance with Australian Accounting Standard AASB 116 Property, Plant and Equipment (AASB 116) (sometimes referred to as capital expenditure) and expenditure that should be treated as expenses (sometimes referred to as operating expenditure). It also outlines accounting principles for depreciation of property, plant and equipment. The purpose of this Policy is to ensure consistency and comparability in the treatment of capital expenditure and depreciation across the NSW public sector.
