The Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022 provides protections for public servants who make public interest disclosures. It outlines how public servants can make disclosures and how agencies must deal with disclosures.
Public servants working at other agencies can also make a PID to the Department of Customer Service or an associated agency. Please email fraudandcorruption@customerservice.nsw.gov.au to receive the relevant contact details.
Exercise of Public Disclosure Act functions
The Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022 allows the Department to engage contractors to exercise certain PID Act functions on behalf of the Department and requires details of these arrangements are published on the Department’s website and intranet.
- The Department has engaged Core Integrity Pty Ltd to operate the DCS Integrity Hotline. The Hotline’s functions include receiving Public Interest Disclosures (PIDs) and referring them to the Department for investigation or referral to an integrity agency.
- The Department may engage an independent investigator from a panel of pre-qualified investigation services to deal with a PID by investigating the relevant serious wrongdoing. If the Department engages an independent investigator, the person making the PID will be advised of this and provided a contact officer within the Department.
