Do-it-yourself (DIY) Wills are not a good idea if you want to make sure all things are considered and clear for your loved ones after you pass away.
Whilst they might look like an easy and affordable option, most offer limited guidance on more complex issues, such as:
• blended families
• superannuation
• taxation in relation to your estate
• guardians and trustees
• powers of the executor
• witnessing requirements and signing under duress
It’s important to seek appropriate legal advice in relation to these issues if they apply to you. Any uncertainty interpreted in a Will may need to be determined by the court, resulting in longer delays and expenses.
