| Within 2 years from the violent crime or modern slavery, or within 2 years of turning 18 if the victim was a child at the time of the incident. |
| Financial assistance for economic loss | To help cover other expenses resulting from the violent crime or modern slavery. Up to $30,000 to help pay for:

| Recognition payment | To acknowledge that a violent crime or act of modern slavery has been committed against you. The amount of a recognition payment is based on the offence:

*If the incident was reported to NSW police, you do not need to send us a police report. You can provide information about your report to NSW police in the application form.
**If you’re applying for financial assistance for loss of earnings, we will need details about your employment and the time you were unable to work because of the incident, as well as other information and documents to support your claim.
The Victims Support Scheme is administered by the Commissioner of Victims Rights. Victims Services, part of the Department of Communities and Justice, assists the Commissioner to administer the Scheme.
We understand that violent crime, modern slavery and road crime can affect people in different ways.
