More than 5500 new trees for a greener Parramatta

Transport for NSW will deliver an additional 2000 native and non-native trees on top of the project's initial commitment of 3500 new trees. This includes some trees being delivered in partnership with City of Parramatta Council.

More than 1600 trees have already been planted in nearby streets, parks and reserves as part of the Parramatta Light Rail project.

Parramatta and the Central River City will be home to more than 300,000 people in the next 3 years, so it is important to ensure that the community can access and enjoy greener spaces to live, work and play.

The project has worked with its delivery partners to minimise tree impacts, and has retained trees where possible, using careful planning and innovation.

This commitment to reducing tree impacts during the design and delivery phases has resulted in less trees being removed than originally estimated in the project's Environmental Impact Statement.
