NESA has made minor changes to the Mathematics Standard syllabus to maintain consistency throughout the suite of Stage 6 mathematics syllabuses.
The Mathematics Standard syllabus has been updated and re-released to coincide with the release of the Mathematics Advanced, Mathematics Extension 1 and Mathematics Extension 2 syllabuses.
The Mathematics Standard syllabus will be updated on the NSW Syllabuses website. Schools that have developed programs in Program Builder are encouraged to download existing programs and follow the notifications within Program Builder to automatically update outcomes and content to the latest version of the syllabus.
Key changes include:
- Identification of common content
- Restructuring of the glossary
- Identification of glossary terms which have examples in the Topic Guidance
- Inclusion of ‘three-dimensional’ figures in outcomes MS-11-4 and MS-12-4
- Information and formulae that appeared in the glossary have been moved to the body of content. For example Young’s formula, Clark’s formula and Fried’s formula
- Replacement of the term ‘digital technology’ with ‘technology’ for consistency throughout the range of syllabuses.
Further information regarding the specific updates to the Mathematics Standard syllabus is available on the NSW syllabuses website.
