A renewed commitment to equity and accessibility for all HSC students
The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) has accepted all eight recommendations from an independent review of the HSC Disability Provisions program, paving the way for stronger equity and accessibility measures for students sitting HSC exams from 2026 and beyond.
English Standard, Advanced and EAL/D (2024) – Course component update
One of the mandatory course components for the Year 11 and Year 12 school-based assessment programs in English Standard, Advanced and EAL/D has been updated. The phrase ‘across all modes’ has been changed to ‘across modes’.
HSC English prescriptions – General updates
The HSC English prescriptions 2027–2028 have been extended to 2030. Minor updates have been made to the HSC English prescriptions, including publication details for some texts and clarification of collection listings.
Strengthening Conditional Accreditation
NESA has updated the NSW Teacher Accreditation (TA) Manual to strengthen the requirements for Conditional accreditation. These updates help to ensure teachers entering NSW classrooms are well-prepared and progressing toward full qualification requirements. Teachers already Conditionally accredited in NSW will not be impacted by these changes.

The talents of 62 HSC Drama graduates officially launched the performing arts showcase over the weekend, with a total of 161 students set to share their creativity with the public over the coming weeks.
