Dean Betts appointed as the Recovery Coordinator for Hawkesbury- Nepean Valley
Dean Betts has been appointed as the Recovery Coordinator to manage flood recovery efforts for the Hawkesbury-Nepean Valley.
Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience and Minister for Flood Recovery Steph Cooke said Mr Betts has more than 20 years of experience in the emergency services sector.
“Mr Betts’ appointment to the Recovery Coordinator position will ensure flood-affected communities in the Hawkesbury-Nepean Valley receive support as quickly as possible,” Ms Cooke said.
Mr Betts has previously been employed in the NSW Police Force and NSW TrainLink, and is currently Resilience NSW’s Metropolitan Sydney Director.
Resilience NSW Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons said Mr Betts will work closely with affected communities and alongside local, State and Commonwealth agencies, as well as non-government organisations.
“Resilience NSW is committed to ensuring those impacted have the support they need to recover and rebuild, and the appointment of Mr Betts will ensure all of our actions in the Hawkesbury-Nepean region are cohesive and tailored to meet the specific needs of impacted communities,” Commissioner Fitzsimmons said.
Mr Betts said he was pleased to see the extraordinary levels of cooperation and coordination over the past week in anticipation of another significant clean up and recovery process for the Hawkesbury-Nepean communities.
“I will continue to be on the ground working with the community to ensure they have all the resources and assistance they need to recover and rebuild,” Mr Betts said.
Two new Recovery Centres, which provide easy access to a range of Government services, support and advice, will be opened in the Hawkesbury-Nepean Valley in the coming days.
