First female Chairperson for NSW Telco Authority
The NSW Telco Authority has welcomed two new Board members and appointed its first female Chairperson, Beth Jackson.
Ms Jackson has served on the Board since early 2017 and her elevation to Chairperson was welcomed by NSW Telco Authority Managing Director Kate Foy.
“I’m delighted to see more female leadership at the Telco Authority. Ms Jackson’s experience in the public sector, the legal profession and companies like Telstra have equipped her to help guide the strategic direction of the NSW Telco Authority,” said Ms Foy.
Ms Foy congratulated the reappointment of Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons and the advancement of Kaaren Koomen AM to Deputy Chairperson. Ms Koomen has been the acting Chair during 2017 and brings experience in communications and technology and a consultative approach to the Board.
Two new Board Members were also appointed, Geoff Kleemann and Ric Oldham, who both bring a long list of experience in executive and financial management.
Ms Foy thanked former Chairperson Rod Gilmour for his years of service.
“Mr Gilmour has provided unwavering leadership during his five years as Chairperson of NSW Telco Authority. I’d like to thank him for his guidance, support and leadership during his time in the chair,” said Ms Foy.
“Having a representative from an emergency service organisation brings the voice of first responders and frontline workers to the discussion,” said Ms Foy.
Ms Foy also acknowledged new Members Philip Gardner and Clare Gardiner-Barnes who were appointed in May 2017 for three-year terms.
The Board will have its first meeting with its new members in Dubbo this month, marking the first time the Board has met in a regional location. During this trip, the Board will also visit one of the Critical Communications Enhancement Program (CCEP) sites to see firsthand the work of the Authority to improve radio network coverage across the state of New South Wales.
