The number of new houses built in Greater Sydney has reached a 44-year record high.
November 2016 marked the sixth month that annual completion rates in Greater Sydney have been above 30,000, with more than 33,000 completions for the first time since 1972.
Thirty per cent of completions in Greater Sydney were in these local government areas:
• Parramatta (2803)
• Blacktown (2612)
• City of Sydney (2441)
• Camden (2169).
In the 12 months to November 2016, the total number of housing approvals in Greater Sydney was 55,915, which is 23 per cent higher than the four-year average.
Minister for Planning and Housing Anthony Roberts said this is good news for all home owners in NSW.
“NSW is experiencing a boom in housing construction like we’ve never seen before, with record housing approvals and completions an important ingredient in our quest to make housing affordable,” Mr Roberts said.
“A record 78,400 new homes are under construction across the state - this is more than double the number of new homes under construction compared to four years ago.”
