Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello said the online platform takes effect today and eliminates the need for customers to visit a Service NSW Service Centre to complete their transaction.
“Customers, many of whom are elderly and vulnerable, currently need to visit a service centre and provide a physical copy of their medical certificate, which can be time consuming and difficult,” Mr Dominello said.
“The new digital platform saves time by allowing customers to apply in the comfort of their home.
“The transaction is quick and simple and just requires the customer to fill out and upload the application form and medical certificate completed by their doctor. Clear photos from a mobile device will suffice for the upload.”
If a customer does not have a valid stored image in our database, but otherwise meets all the requirements for a permit, they may still be able to obtain a temporary six month permit. Applicants who are not yet established in the system will still need to attend a Service NSW centre.
Service NSW receives about 100,000 applications for mobility parking permits every year.
There are currently more than 400,000 customers issued with permanent permits and nearly 10,000 holding temporary permits.
