Since 1932, the Dog on the Tucker box has stood proudly beside the Hume Highway, becoming a much-loved stopping place for thousands of traveler's. Originally established to support Gundagai Hospital, the site continues to contribute to its vital work through donations collected in the wishing well. Over the decades, the Dog has been immortalized in song and story, standing as a tribute to the resilience and determination of the European pioneers who settled the region. Today, the Dog on the Tucker box Pioneer Monument warmly welcomes visitors with a café offering hot and cold refreshments, a range of souvenirs, and a picnic area set away from the busy highway. With ample parking available—including space for caravans and tour buses—it's the perfect place to relax and take a break on your journey.
