Miss Porter's House Museum is a Newcastle treasure. Take a step back into history in the heart of the city.
Visitors of all ages can explore Porter family stories and discover the secrets of an Edwardian home. You can chat with friendly, knowledgeable guides or take a self-directed tour.
Enjoy the Porters' stencilled ceilings, period garden, historic fernery, furniture, handcraft and a century of household items. Visitors have described the museum as one of Newcastle's little jewels and a wonderful social history resource.
Built by Herbert Porter in 1909, the family lived in their terrace home until 1997. It was then bequeathed to the National Trust and survives with its contents intact as a living snapshot of life in twentieth-century Newcastle.
