The Tracker Walford Walkway offers a peaceful riverside experience in Walgett, extending for 1.5 kilometres along the Namoi River to the cattle crossing. Created by the Walford family, the walkway invites visitors to enjoy the beauty of the riverbanks, shaded trees, and open skies. It has also become a popular location for weddings and community gatherings. The walkway is named in honour of Norman "Tracker" Walford, one of the last Aboriginal trackers in New South Wales. Based in Walgett for many years, Tracker Walford worked across the state, assisting police in searches and earning respect for his skill and dedication. In 1957, he received a commendation for his role in locating a missing man at Brewarrina. Walking the path is both a chance to connect with nature and to reflect on the remarkable life of Tracker Walford. His story is deeply tied to the region's history and community spirit. Easily accessible from Warrena Street, just east of Namoi Street, the walkway is a place for quiet walks, meaningful reflection, and connecting with Walgett's heritage.
