The Jimmy Little Mural in Walgett, New South Wales, stands as a vibrant tribute to one of Australia's most cherished Aboriginal musicians and cultural icons. Unveiled in November 2020, this striking artwork adorns the Walgett Water Tower at 56 Dewhurst Street, celebrating Jimmy Little's enduring legacy in music, advocacy, and community service . Renowned artist Jenny McCracken brought Jimmy's portrait to life, basing it on a photograph by John Elliott. Complementing the portrait, local Gamilaroi artist Frank Wright designed a background that intricately weaves elements of the region's river systems and local totems, including the sand goanna, dragonfly, and emu . Commissioned by the Walgett Shire Council and produced by Zest Events International, the mural not only honors Jimmy Little's artistic contributions but also his significant impact on Reconciliation, Indigenous health, and education programs. His daughter, Ms. Frances Peters-Little, expressed her delight at this tribute, acknowledging its role in recognizing her father's contributions . Visitors can explore the mural as part of the region's public art offerings, with the site accessible to all.
