The Create NSW Review of Arts & Cultural Sector Service Needs was a part of the reform of the Arts and Cultural Funding Program, commenced in 2019.
Create NSW is the NSW Government's arts and cultural driver.
Service organisations provide business and professional development, capacity-building, advice, advocacy and networking services that help individual artists and arts organisations to perform well, grow and thrive. They may provide sector-wide services or tailor their work to specific artforms, or to creators, participants and audiences who face barriers to participation, such as artists with disability and people in regional NSW.
The review aimed to establish the current service support needs of the sector, identify any gaps and inform streamlined future support.
This report gives insights on what the sector said were its biggest service needs, and recommended six areas for action:
The NSW Government set aside extra funding to address some of the needs identified by the review.
