NSW Registry of Births Deaths & Marriages

The Registry was formed in 1856 to register life events in New South Wales accurately and securely for all time, ensuring their integrity and confidentiality.

COVID-19 venue restrictions

Weddings can be held in NSW however restrictions still apply depending on vaccination status and venue size.

For capacity limits at our wedding venues, see Registry venues and micro wedding venues.

If you are not fully vaccinated, you can only attend a ‘small wedding’ service which is up to 11 people attending, including the celebrant (or officiant), the two people getting married, the two necessary witnesses, a person recording the service, and up to 5 guests.

For all other recent COVID-19 changes see the roadmap.
