Gunnedah celebrates NAIDOC with community
As part of the 2025 NAIDOC celebrations, an event was held on the Gunnedah Hospital Redevelopment project site.
Around 50 people came together onsite at the Gunnedah Hospital Redevelopment to celebrate NAIDOC Week during July 2025. Led by Health Infrastructure's Project Director and proud Kamilaroi man, Lachlan Falconer-Adams, it was a special occasion to reflect on the collaboration between the project and community.
For nearly four years the project team and community have worked together ensuring culture and community is woven into the new hospital building design and artwork. Local artist Ronnie Long shared his story working with the project team and his artwork collaboration with Warwick Keen. Their design is currently being fabricated and will form the canopy over the external entry to the emergency department, welcoming all people to the Gunnedah Hospital.
Attendees also got a sneak peek inside the new hospital building which has only added to the excitement that is building leading up to completion in late 2025.
