Health Infrastructure launches Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan
In November 2025, Health Infrastructure (HI) officially launched the Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), marking the second phase of our organisation’s reconciliation journey.
The plan outlines how Aboriginal knowledge, perspectives and practices will be meaningfully embedded across the planning, design and delivery of health infrastructure in NSW.
Launched in early 2023, HI’s Reflect RAP provided the foundation for listening, learning and building stronger relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The newly launched Innovate RAP builds on this, setting out how we will embed Aboriginal knowledge, perspectives and practices across the planning, design and delivery of health infrastructure in NSW.
At HI, our work has impact beyond physical infrastructure. Designing with Country ensures our facilities reflect deep, cultural connections to land and people, fostering trust, belonging and better health outcomes. Through procurement and participation, we also contribute to economic opportunity, creating pathways for Aboriginal employment, business growth and long-term skills development.
Our vision is a future where health services and spaces are culturally safe, inclusive and responsive and where Country, culture and community are recognised and respected in all that we do. We aspire to strengthen opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through meaningful partnerships, employment, pathways and procurement practices.
With almost 100 infrastructure projects underway, HI is working with government, industry partners and communities to build the future of healthcare.
HI’s Chief Executive, Emma Skulander has said, “This plan reminds us that the health spaces we build are places of connection, care and belonging, and that we have an opportunity to contribute to a more equitable and respectful health system for generations to come.”
