The project team has commenced 'breaking through' from the back of the existing John Hunter Hospital.
This work supports the establishment of three link bridges between the existing hospital and the new building, which is under construction.
The detailed rendered image below highlights these link bridges and their planned usage.
These bridges will align with the hospital's existing main entry to allow for easy movement from the front of the hospital all the way through to the new building at the rear. Find out more about the work on the new link bridges by viewing the video below.
Our fly-through video takes you on a tour of the existing hospital and its connection to the new building.

Building the bridges - John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct
A new phase of work has begun at the John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct to connect the existing facility to the new building.
Soon, young people aged 12 to 17 years old will be able access a new purpose-built Nepean Adolescent Mental Health Unit at Nepean Hospital. The project is currently under construction and is on track for completion at the end of the year.
