The theme this year was ‘Revitalise’ and focused on health, wellbeing, kindness, self-care, arts and culture.
Ms Fiona McKern, Chairperson of the Staff Advisory Committee acknowledged the challenges for staff over the past two years of providing a service to the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our staff at Griffith Base Hospital are invaluable and we wanted to do something that recognised that and allowed them time to reflect, pause and focus on their own well-being,” Ms McKern Said.
Activities were well received by staff and included art relaxation sessions, meditation sessions, a wellbeing scavenger hunt, trade stands, staff BBQ and cooking demonstrations.
“Revitalise” stations were scattered across the Griffith Base Hospital, with a coffee van onsite and lunch orders available from local restaurants.
The stations had snacks, water, pens, sticky notes, bath salts, tea and coffee, sweets and other material. The Staff Advisory Committee ensured these were well stocked, regularly replenishing supplies. A connection afternoon tea was held for staff as the final activity of the week.
Ms McKern acknowledged the effort and support of the team and staff, and numerous local businesses who supported the week.
“Many teams were involved in the delivery of this event including the MLHD wellbeing team and the Griffith Base Hospital Maintenance team. This week would not have been possible without their support, and the incredible teamwork of the Staff Advisory Committee.
“On behalf of the Committee and staff at Griffith Base Hospital, I would like to thank our staff and local community. We hope to plan for a bigger and better event next year.” said Ms McKern.
