In lieu of flowers at his wife Merryl’s funeral, donations went to support projects of the Wagga Inner Wheel Club that Merryl was a member of for 20 years.
“Regional Australians are 17% more likely to suffer a stroke than those in metropolitan areas and WWBH has one of the highest performing stroke units in NSW,” Wagga Wagga’s Acute Stroke Unit, Associate Professor Martin Jude said.
“Philip is our community representative for the Hospital Stroke Executive Committee, and we appreciate the work he does in maintaining awareness and support of the Stroke Ward and it’s services in the community,” he said.
“On the 1-year anniversary of Merryl’s passing, we would like to offer our condolences to Philip and his family and acknowledge his ongoing dedication and support to the stroke ward,” Associate Professor Jude said.
“This new mobility chair is the second chair that Philip has donated over the past year, and we will be placing a special plaque on the chair in Merryl’s memory and acknowledge his support of our service.
Wagga Wagga’s Acute Stroke Unit team provides timely access to world class care for stroke patients across the region and valued at over $9,000, the mobility chair will assist stroke patients to move independently during their recovery and rehabilitation.
