Acknowledgement and our commitment to transforming Aboriginal health
Our commitment to transforming Aboriginal health
We are committed to transforming Aboriginal health and the health outcomes and experiences for all Aboriginal people and all communities across our District.
Guided by the NSW Aboriginal Health Plan 2024-2034, we recognise the role and responsibility we all have in making a real and lasting difference in the lives of all people living in Western NSW.
Our commitment is centred on building respectful and meaningful relationships with Aboriginal communities. We will continue to engage with local communities and create greater opportunities for codesign, feedback and collaboration, ensuring Aboriginal voices shape our planning, governance and service delivery.
We are focused on developing a culturally responsive and skilled workforce that provides essential services, supports cultural safety, and improves outcomes and experiences for Aboriginal patients and families who access our care.
Key priority areas in this Plan include:
- Delivering equitable, accessible, culturally safe care that is trauma-informed and family centred for Aboriginal people across all services and settings.
- Strengthening partnerships with Aboriginal communities, community-controlled organisations, and key stakeholders in planning and decision-making.
- Growing and supporting a skilled Aboriginal workforce and embedding cultural capability across the organisation.
- Enhancing health literacy, early intervention, screening and prevention to improve intergenerational health outcomes.
- Ensuring governance, planning, and service delivery reflect Aboriginal voices, leadership, priorities, cultural values and protocols.
