Join Andrew Balzer in a panel discussion with educators and leaders from across the country as they discuss: 

  • Online safety education guidelines or frameworks 

  • Solving challenging issues 

  • Adaptive teaching strategies 

  • Cyber security career education 

  • Bringing parents and carers into the mix 

On the panel are: 

Convener – Andrew Balzer, Education Success Manager, Microsoft.

Andrew has been transforming schools with his innovative use of classroom technologies. He is also leading in developing new tools and delivering teacher training. 
Panel members: 

James Vella, eLearning Coordinator, Emmaus College, Vermont, VIC

James is an experienced teacher of digital technologies and mathematics within the Catholic education sector in Victoria. He is currently the eLearning Coordinator at Emmaus College and has held a range of middle and senior leadership roles. James is passionate about developing staff capacity, innovative and emerging technologies, online safety and engaging with data. He has been a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert since 2020.

Lynette Barker, Teacher Librarian, St Therese’s Primary School, New Lambton, NSW 

Lynette’s passion is technology in learning. She has been part of the Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert program since 2014 and is a Microsoft Fellow and Minecraft Global Mentor. She has been an educator for 38 years, with the last 20 as a teacher librarian. Learning is truly lifelong. Lynette works with students from Kinder to Year 6 and is amazed every day by their creativity and digital skills. 

Simon Harper, Head Teacher Secondary Studies, Killara High School, Killara 

Simon is a passionate and innovative educational leader and ex-chef. He is constantly striving for future-focused learning strategies to improve student engagement and outcomes. Simon is a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert Fellow, passionate about emerging AI technologies, Cyber safety, and preparing students for the changing nature of work. Simon is currently Head Teacher, Technology and Learning at Killara High School and manages Vocational Education and Training and Careers. 

Dr Bronwyn Stuckey, Innovative Education Ideas 

Bron Stuckey is a global consultant specialist in gameplay, gamification, communities of practice, and learning communities. Bron has been engaged in the educational community and gameful practices in learning development for the past 16 years.  

She has worked to explore and support virtual worlds, games in learning and how we cultivate identity, agency, citizenship, leadership, and community. She is a postdoctoral research fellow of the Arizona State University Center for Games & Impact and a global leader in gamification for community and identity cultivation. Bron consults to education and industry and is currently contracted as Mind in Residence (MIR) to the Questacon Cyber Ready Team.  

She cultivates community for learners which is what brought her to research, adopt and support academic esports and build the GameChanger Girls Esports program. She is also an ANZ champion for the international Dell Girls Who Game program.
