About the micro-credential
CNC programming automates the control of machining tools, such as drills, lathes, and 3D printers, using a computer.
G-code is a straightforward programming language that directs CNC machines on what actions to take, how fast to move, which path to follow, and in what order. These instructions are typically generated using computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software.
What you will learn
This micro-credential equips learners with the skills to control CNC machines using G-code programming.
By completing this micro-credential, you will:
- understand machine setup, area clearance, finish machining strategies, editing tool paths, and collision checking
- set leads and links, levels and sets, patterns, and boundaries to prevent processing issues
- navigate 3D machining and CNC programs
- create setup sheets, perform specialist finishing, and manage component thickness and stock models.
