About the micro-credential
Injection moulding is a widely used method for manufacturing plastic parts, offering reliability, speed, precision, and suitability for mass production. Operators primarily interact with injection moulding machines during start-up, shut-down, quality assurance, and minor troubleshooting.
This micro-credential focuses on equipping new and existing operators with the skills to operate injection moulding machines safely and efficiently.
What you will learn
By completing this micro-credential, you will:
- understand how to read standard operating procedures (SOPs) and data sheets for injection moulding machines
- know how to start up and shut down an injection moulding machine following SOPs
- understand the appropriate temperatures, pressures, and durations for common injection moulding applications
- perform quality compliance checks on goods produced by an injection moulding machine
- conduct maintenance checks during production for a specified period
- recognise issues with an injection moulding machine and know how to escalate them appropriately.
