About the micro-credential
A programmable logic controller (PLC) is an industrial computer that automates electro-mechanical processes in manufacturing, production plants, and other automation environments.
PLCs come in various sizes and can be customised for different industrial applications, such as:
- monitoring and recording data
- starting and stopping processes
- indicating malfunctions
- communicating data to other platforms
Widely used across industries, PLCs are valued for their speed, ease of operation, and relatively simple programming once a programming language is learned.
What you will learn
This micro-credential equips learners with knowledge of PLC functions and applications and the skills to write basic code for various PLC brands.
By completing this micro-credential, you will:
- understand the functions and applications of programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
- assess when pre-built PLC functionality is suitable for specific on-the-job applications
- write basic code for multiple PLC brands to enable new functionality and automation.
