NESA strives to ensure students in NSW reach their highest potential at school. The 2018–2019 annual report highlights NESA's goals, and how they've been achieved in the last year.
Achievements include:
- Review of NSW curriculum – commenced a review of the NSW curriculum that represents Australian society in the 21st century.
- Maintaining teaching standards and accreditation – streamlined and strengthened what will be taught in NSW schools over the next 4 years.
- Refining risks to school regulation – continue to improve how risks are handled in school regulation which benefits students' education.
