Renew your Working with Children Check
To meet your teacher accreditation requirements, you must hold a current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance for paid employment. Find out how to renew it if it's expiring soon.
Steps to renew your WWCC
If you have a current WWCC for paid employment that is expiring soon, you must renew it rather than applying for a new one.
Renew with the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG)
Renew your WWCC clearance for paid employment online with the OCG 3 months before expiry to allow time for approval.
If you do not renew your WWCC, your accreditation to teach will be suspended. This means you will not be able to teach in any NSW school or early childhood service.
Pay your renewal fee with Service NSW
Visit a Service NSW centre to:
- provide your application number
- provide your identity documentation
- pay the renewal fee for your WWCC.
OR
Renew online with:
- your MyServiceNSW account (WWCC service now available)
- your digital proof of identifcation
- your payment.
Check for renewal notification from OCG
OCG will send you a confirmation email with your WWCC clearance details.
Update your NESA online account (eTAMS)
When the OCG emails your WWCC clearance, update your details in eTAMS.
It is important that your name is exactly the same on your WWCC and on eTAMS. Otherwise, NESA won't be able to verify your WWCC clearance and may suspend your teacher accreditation.
If you are late renewing your WWCC
If you do not renew your WWCC before it expires, your accreditation to teach is at risk of being suspended. This means you will not be able to teach in any NSW school or early childhood service.
NESA may revoke a teacher’s accreditation if they have been suspended for 12 or more months for not providing NESA with a renewed WWCC clearance.
