Program objective
The Cancer Institute NSW Travel Grant scheme aims to:
- Support professional development and expand the knowledge of students and early and mid-career researchers.
- Promote and foster collaboration between researchers, clinicians and stakeholders across the sector.
- Build interest and expertise in all aspects of cancer research and evidence-based clinical practice.
- Disseminate knowledge and information to a range of audiences.
This program is funded and administered by Cancer Institute NSW.
Eligibility
The travel grants are open to students undertaking their PhD, and early and mid-career researchers (0-10 years post PhD) who have submitted or intend to submit an abstract for presentation at a virtual, national, or international conference.

Address the eligibility criteria
- students undertaking their PhD
- early and mid-career researchers (0-10 years post PhD)
- the applicant and administering institution must be located in NSW
- applicants should have an abstract submitted or intend to submit an abstract and be the presenting author for a conference between 1 June 2023 and 30 June 2024.
- applicants must nominate a single administering institution who will be responsible for the management of the grant and will sign a terms and conditions letter.

Applications will be reviewed using the following criteria:
- alignment of the applicant’s research with the NSW Cancer Plan
- potential benefit to the applicant’s professional development
- quality and impact of the conference.
